Åland University of Applied Sciences (www.ha.ax) is a university of applied sciences located in Mariehamn, the capital of the autonomous Åland Islands, situated between Sweden and Finland. The university has approximately 550 bachelor-level students across eight degree programs, as well as one masters level program. The university also runs extensive open university activities and conducts research and development. In total, the university has around 80 employees.
We are now announcing a vacancy for:
Lecturer in Technology
from 1 August 2025, to 31 July 2026, with good prospects for continuation.
As a teacher at Åland University of Applied Sciences (HÅ), you will both teach and be involved in various projects. Together with other teachers and staff, you will plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in accordance with modern higher education pedagogical principles, where a guiding approach and digital solutions are central.
You are good at collaborating and ready to support students in their studies as part of a team, while also working in teaching teams where educators support one another. HÅ is a university in transition, and that is something that motivates you. As a lecturer, you report to the Vice-Rector. Competencies We Are Looking For
-Competence in and interest in teaching (in most of) the following subject areas:
Operating systems, data communication, and networks
Microprocessor technology, sensors, and IoT
Automation systems
Differential equations and technical mathematics
Modeling and simulation of technical systems, digital twins
Machine learning and applied artificial intelligence

-Experience and competence in supervising theses
-Ability to teach in English and/or Swedish, preferably at both bachelor and master levels
-Experience and competence to independently and in teams plan and deliver comprehensive teaching and learning activities, including online pedagogical solutions
-Ability to collaborate and work in a team, as well as work independently
-Willingness and flexibility to adapt to change
-Interest in research and development
Eligibility Requirements
A suitable higher education degree completed at a university or a comparable institution. A Dr.-degree for teaching at the masters level.
At least three years of practical experience in tasks related to the competences mentioned above

Salary
According to the Annual Working Hours Agreement for Åland University of Applied Sciences.
Working Hours
Working time is 1200 (75%) 1600 (100%) hours per academic year, as agreed.
