We are a completely ordinary family with an unusual work situation

Is it possible to combine family life and leisure with a rewarding career? Yes, says Sandra Listherby, who chose to retrain and move back to Åland with her husband and four children. She now works remotely as a consultant in public procurement for the Swedish company Colligio.

In an interview with Ålands Handel, Sandra Listherby talks more about the combination of remote work, a large family, and an active leisure life in Åland.

– We are a completely ordinary family with an unusual work situation, she says.

A simpler everyday life

Working remotely certainly has its challenges, but Sandra still feels that the advantages outweigh them. The time difference with Sweden provides a head start in the morning, but can cause complications in the evening. Best of all, however, is the freedom and all the extra time that life with remote work and a home office entails. Time that Sandra happily dedicates to family life, leisure activities, and community involvement.

– Åland had always been in our plans but only became a reality when we had three children and realized that Stockholm was not the place we wanted them to grow up in.
