Work in healthcare and social care in Åland

Åland's health and medical care (ÅHS) is one of Åland's largest employers with approximately 1,000 employees.

Åland's health and medical care is responsible for public health and medical care in Åland, ranging from maternal and child health care to various forms of specialized medical care and end-of-life care. Despite the scope of the services ÅHS offers, the operational units are characterized by a familiar and people-centered atmosphere.

Around 80 doctors and over 350 nurses and other healthcare staff form a powerful knowledge organization together with dentists, therapists, other specialized personnel and service staff.

Over 800 permanent employees and a large number of substitutes ensure that the people of Åland – and during summer even all tourists – can feel safe and be assured that they will receive professional care in the event of illness or accident.
