Trang comes from Vietnam, a tropical country with rainy and dry seasons, many mopeds, and where people move as densely as in an anthill.
– Suddenly I met my husband at a wedding, where his friend married my friend.
The couple began visiting each other every year. In the summers, Trang came to Åland for two weeks, and in the winters it was his turn to come and visit. It worked for a while, but not in the long run.
– We decided that someone had to follow the other. It wasn't possible to keep traveling back and forth like that.
For Trang, it was a difficult decision to leave everything behind and start over. At the same time, there was hope of getting something new and better in life.
– After ten years, I feel that I made the right choice. Åland has given me a new life, a new adventure. Here I have my own family, and we love each other. On top of that, it's a great environment to raise children in.
Trang also appreciates much of what Åland has to offer.
– It's a paradise to live in. There is beautiful nature, fresh air, and security. You can walk in the forest without hesitation or worry. In everyday life, there is a good balance between work and family.
